Add a Little Sweetness to your Saturday

The Story behind the Vanilla Cakes of the Flower Bouquet

The bouquet was vibrant and lush with yellows, oranges, whites and rose colors. Green leaves sprung  between each colorful rose. White lace wrapped around the top of the rustic vase. This was a bouquet of elegance and it was even edible because the roses were actually cupcakes. Sweet Equations believes in adding a little sweetness to each person’s day through treating yourselves to these delicious, tasty treats. Here at Sweet Equations, we love making edible gifts, which is what inspired the cupcake bouquet. The founder of Sweet Equations, Sade, has always been interested in uniting her favorite candy and cake ingredients to create unique desserts. The cupcake bouquet is just one of many unique and edible creations she has made. Now the only question is, how did she create it?

First, when you decide to make this creation, you will need the proper ingredients. While venturing to the grocery store be sure to pick up 3 cups of unbleached, all purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, 4 eggs, and 2 cups of sugar. In addition, you will need 1 tablespoon of vanilla bean paste of extract, ¾ of a cup of canola oil, and 1 ¼ cup of milk.

Next, you need to start the preparation. First, preheat the oven to 350 with the rack in the middle position. Then make sure you have two 8-inch pans, which you will need to spray with nonstick baking spray and set them aside. Next, grab two bowls. One will be used to combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. The second bowl will be used to mix the eggs, sugar, and vanilla. An electric mixer works best for this and it should take approximately ten minutes. However, once the vanilla is thick, it is ready as well. Throughout your time mixing, you should pour oil in gradually.

Now, to finish your preparation, the ingredients from the first bowl, which has flour, baking powder, and salt, is added to milk. Each dry ingredient is added separately to your new ingredient, milk. Make sure to take your time and not to rush. Continue this process until the batter is smooth. Then add both of the bowls together and mix. Now, divide the batter between the two pans. They will need to bake for 50 to 55 minutes. Once they are done, you should allow them to cool for 15 minutes. Place the cakes on a wire rack, after they are removed from the pans. This process will make you approximately 12 cupcakes.

The vanilla frosting is your last step. You will need 1 cup of unsalted, softened butter, 3 ½ cups of confectioners’ sugar, 1 teaspoon of milk, 1 ½ teaspoon of vanilla bean paste or extract, and 1/8 teaspoon of salt. In your next bowl, mix the butter, sugar and salt. Make sure it is completely mixed and blended before moving onto the next step. Then, add the milk and vanilla to the bowl. Mix for another 3 to 5 minutes. This will make your frosting smooth and creamy.

Congratulations, you have made your very own vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting. Next make sure to get a vase, with artificial or silk leaves. Attach your cupcakes and leaves to the vase and arrange them to make your own unique bouquet. Be sure to try out other flavors and use different colors of frosting. Good luck!

Send us your creations. We would love to see them!
